5 week Online Portrait Class

Feb 12th - March 11th    $500

This class will be a mixture of live demos during the zoom and prerecorded videos for the class to watch during the week. The live zoom will be recorded and available to watch over and over. All content from the class will be posted on a private Facebook page dedicated to this class.

I feel that online classes are very equalizing, people can work in their own studios at their own pace. We are all working from the same reference and so there is no bad angle of the model.

The class will meet live for 5 Mondays 12 - 3 pm (eastern standard time)

There will be a 20 minute break at 1:30. Each class Scott will demonstrate on a portrait, the class will be able to watch him work and ask him questions. During the break the camera will be focused on him to watch his progress.

During the week students will be able to get critiques on their homework and ask questions.

Topics that will be worked on

Photoshop - How Scott and I use Photoshop everyday in our studio.

5 - Simple tools that we use to fix our reference photos

Art Materials we can’t live without

The class is all about experimenting with limited color harmonies. We start off with how interesting one color can be, then each week we add hues and complimentary tones to build on the foundation from the previous week. This is not your traditional way of mixing flesh tones.

There are no silly questions, we want you to feel free to ask about anything. We are totally honest about the ups and downs of being a self employed artist. There will be parts of the class when Susan and Scott talk about their experiences with galleries, competitions and traveling as an artist. We hope to offer tips that we have learned over the years, we want you to learn from our mistakes.

Scott will be watching comments for any questions during the live zoom, we want you to ask questions anytime during the class. It will be a back and forth, Susan wants to take time to invite students to speak live and make it more interactive.

Each week Susan will upload new videos of demos that pertain to the lesson for the next week.

During the live zooms she will talk about the approach for that week showing masterwork examples and  having a Q&A for a bit to go over ideas and answer questions.

Then she will take a few examples of the homework submitted to explain helpful ways to elevate your work.

Susan will do short demos during class explaining that week’s lesson. We will have multiple camera angles and close ups.

Everyone learns in different ways, during the zoom students’ are encouraged to ask questions anytime during the zoom. You can also be quiet and just watch with your camera turned off.

Once you are registered for the class you will receive a supply list and an invitation to the private Facebook page. All of the links to the zoom classes, videos, resources will located on that Facebook page. Students will be posting any homework images or questions in between classes during the week to this page.

Susan will show exactly how to post and navigate this FB page on the first day of class.
